I got myself a Baofeng UV-5R in camouflage first, and then I ended up grabbing the same model in black later on. The black one I just bought is definitely louder. That’s when I realized the camo version has a problem; the volume only goes from low to medium, even though I’ve cranked it all the way up.

I reached out to Baofeng based on the info in the paperwork that came with it. But man, I keep getting the runaround.

It seems like they’ve changed their warranty terms since I made my purchase. I bought mine online from Walmart through an authorized dealer.

Now, that dealer keeps pushing me back to Baofeng, and their customer support just tells me to go back to the dealer. It feels like a tactic to dodge their warranty obligations. I’m seriously considering starting a class action lawsuit against Baofeng and will keep everyone posted here if anyone else is dealing with the same warranty issues.

I purchased three various radio models. They work well, but one of them can't connect with the other two. I was told to get a programming cable. The email also had video links showing how to set up the radios. Plus, a programming app was suggested.

All in all, fantastic customer support.
